Michael J. Pigliacelli


    Michael J. Pigliacelli is the 2019 Airline Chair for the Air Carriers Purchasing Conference.  He is responsible for the recruitment of new airlines as Chair of the ACPC Airline Steering Committee along with selecting the charity recipient of the 2019 ACPC Gives Back.  Michael has been a long-time supporter of ACPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility program to give back to the ACPC host city communities.   In addition, he has put together an impressive airline recruiting team consisting of purchasing leaders from Southwest, Delta and Air North to support his efforts.  This will be Michael’s second term in this important leadership role, having been Airline Chair in Washington in 2014.


    As Senior Manager for Component Procurement at United Airlines, Michael is responsible for the procurement of parts and materials to support United’s different installation projects, new aircraft inductions, rotable / recoverable / repairable spare parts procurement, and standard hardware procurement.  Michael started his aviation career in 1990 working for 3 years in Sales at Air Jamaica.  He was then hired by Continental Airlines in 1993 and has been with United since the merger of the two airlines in 2010. Michael has served in leadership roles in Airport Operations, Flight Operations, Technical Operations, and Finance Divisions during has 25 years with United. 


    Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University and an MBA with concentrations in International Finance and Operations from the Joseph M. Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. 


    Michael resides in Woodstock, Illinois with his wife of 27 years, Wendy, and their two children, Olivia, age 17 and Sean, age 14.  Michael is active in his local community as a volunteer for the Woodstock Little League and the Boy Scouts of America as Sycamore District Roundtable Commissioner and an Adult Leader for Woodstock Troop 153.
